Camp Brosius

At Camp Brosius, I had the opportunity to participate in a Leadership and Teamwork Development Camp where I collaborated with seven other individuals to learn the value of teamwork. As part of the program, I facilitated two physically and intellectually challenging activities for a team of eight in order to foster growth in leadership skills. It was both challenging and rewarding to guide the team through these activities and to see them grow and work together effectively. Additionally, I co-led the group of campers in an entertaining large group activity, which taught me the importance of engaging and motivating a group while also fostering a sense of community. This experience has helped me develop valuable skills in leadership, teamwork, and communication, which I have been able to apply to my personal and professional life.

The experiences of joining the cross country and track team changed my life and navigated my goals of what I am currently doing. I was able to meet new people and form friendships with people on the team and from other schools really changed my life in ways that I could never imagine if I did not join the school's team. Similarly for both track and cross country I was able to make it to state to both despite all the factors that weighed against us. During my junior year of track we barely managed qualify for state in the 4x800, but that was the biggest eye opener of all time. We scrapped together a "B" team to run and defied all expectations and took the last qualifying spot to make it to state. Having our team cheers us on as we made the impossible happen really encouraged the depth of how united we all were even though we all were not going. Everyone was there to support all along the way seeing us in our ups and downs, but never faltering in cheering us on and believing in us. The opportunity to be a part of Harrison's first team to ever run at state and win our school's first regional title inspired and motivated my athletic career. I have always ran throughout school without thinking about what I can really do, but being a part of a state team motivated me for my future endeavors of wanting to compete at the collegiate level. Now I am here running at IUPUI for both cross country and track.

KINE-P 403, Theories & Practices of Cardiovascular Exercise, the course is design to navigate and teach students the importance of cardiovascular exercises and teach how to create and endurance training program along with the different ways to go about training.

While I have had plenty of training, especially training geared for cardiovascular endurance this class really put into perspective the minor parts and explained the physiology of how training all ties together to create a better environment for training.

Motor Learning Clinic

During my time as a personal trainer, I had the privilege of working with two clients who had disabilities. This experience was both rewarding and challenging, as I had to adapt my training techniques to suit their individual needs and abilities. Through careful observation and communication, I was able to develop exercise programs that were safe, effective, and enjoyable for both clients. It was inspiring to see the progress they made and the positive impact our sessions had on their overall well-being. This experience has taught me the importance of inclusivity and the value of personalized training for individuals with disabilities.

INShape

Working as a personal trainer has not only allowed me to help my client reach their fitness goals but has also helped me build confidence in my abilities. Through working with my client from a diverse background, I have learned to be more sensitive to their unique needs and preferences, and I have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of inclusivity in the fitness industry. By adjusting my training methods to suit their cultural differences, I have been able to create a more personalized and effective fitness program for my client, which has resulted in better outcomes and stronger client-trainer relationships. This experience has been instrumental in helping me develop as a personal trainer and as an individual.

These 6 words come to mind when I think back on my experience of INShape: Growth, new, learning, confidence, flexible, innovative

As an individual I understand the importance of embracing growth, continuously learning, and being confident in my abilities. I must also be flexible and innovative in my approach to tailor workouts for each client's specific needs and goals. By prioritizing these qualities, I strive to create a personalized and effective training experience that fosters a strong client-trainer relationship and helps clients achieve their desired results.

KINE Classes

Through my short years of attending IUPUI, I have enjoyed the classes and people I have met along the way, but the courses that stood out particularly that engaged me were KINE-P258 & KINE-P246. These classes engaged my focus and were unique to what I was accustomed to, so it helped broaden my perspective.
KINE-P258 was an informative and eye opening course. Given the instruction of the course and how engaging it was, kept me interested throughout the class. My takeaway was how engaged and took part we were in the class, on top of learning how to go about working with people with special needs. As for KINE-P246 was another course that was informative as we learned how to create workouts and instructed them in class as well. This class definitely got me out of my comfort zone, but was a great experience to teach and learn about resistance training.
